Why It Matters
People say that was is done “without community” is “done to community.” For solutions to work, people most impacted by the issues have to be part of leading the way forward. But too often, community members are not given the tools or the compensation they warrant to be active in leading civic engagement.

Guaranteed Income
The United Family Guaranteed Income program gives low-income households three years of support to stabilize and thrive. Each family receives a monthly guaranteed income supplement of $500. Families also benefit from personalized coaching and financial planning.
In the mid 20th Century, America’s first GI bill for veterans, lifted a generation into the middle class. Unfortunately many veterans of color did not benefit from that generational poverty alleviation initiative. Today, new Guaranteed Income programs can correct that past legacy of exclusion and provide a new generation of families with access to economic stability and thriving lives.
A GI Bill for the 21st Century
How It Works
Families are selected through an open enrollment process. Qualifying families meet income guidelines. Each selected family agrees to participate in the program for three years and to complete monthly check ins. Families can utilize their supplemental income to save for emergencies, ensure household needs, and stabilize as they are given tools to financially thrive in the long term.
Why It Matters
Over 300 peer reviewed studies show that guaranteed income programs are exceptionally effective in alleviating poverty, increasing economic mobility, and increasing positive outcomes in many domains. A donation to guaranteed income is a contribution to True Impact directly benefitting people.
Partnerships
Polis Institute has partnered with the Neighborliness Center to launch the United Families Guaranteed Income Program. The first program site is in Forsyth County, NC. Together, our goal is to reach communities across the country with True Impact giving opportunities that expand the program to benefit more families.
